I agree 100%. I'd say that the translator/interpreter misunderstanding is one of the most common. I've found that it's difficult at best to educate people about the difference because of the media's disinterest in the difference. While I was studying at the university, I even had professors of linguistics and languages use the terms interchangeably and when confronted on the matter, they simply responded, "Oh, you know what I mean." Pretty disheartening to say the least.
